And with the trail\'s gentle ups and down, most hikers young and old, two and four legged will have no problem making the journey. We\'ll also need to monitor snow level to make sure we can navigate the trail, but some snow is ideal. If the overnight temperature is forecast to be below freezing, we can drive back towards diablo lake and camp at lower elevation with warmer temps. Also, there\'s a half mile stretch of narrow dirt road near Dead Horse Point that we\'ll need confirmation from a ranger is snow/ice free. If anyone has an all wheel drive vehicle, please offer to drive a carpool. Current Road Conditions: Methow Ranger district at 509-997-2131. The cabin has a full kitchen, dining area, and fireplace in the livingroom at the Skagit River Resort, 58648 Clark Cabin Road Rockport WA. There are other cabins and camping also available. Those sharing the cabin with me can share in the rental cost depending on how many stay in the cabin. 
 I will be arriving around 4pm at the little grey Cabin #5 on Friday. People may come for one, two, or all 3 days. Main meet up will be sometime Saturday morning at the Rockcreek Eagle Center. We will decide where to shoot Saturday morning depending on weather and who might want to go on a float trip down the river. Maps and directions will be given to those who sign up for this outing. This should be an easy trip with driving or floating to spots to photograph eagles.

Drive I-90 East to exit 32, and head South on Cedar Falls Road about 3.5 miles. The road will be divided by two parking lots one on your left and one on your right. Chose the one on your left and we should all be there milling around by the mapboard or trailhead for Iron Horse Trail. *If the one on the left requires a trail pass then just park at Rattlesnake and walk on over so that you don\'t get a ticket...I am not 100% sure if they require the pass on the Iron Horse Side or not...so just read the signs there.<br /><br />This is an old railroad grade that is a wide soft path through the woods, over streams, in open areas with sweeping views of I-90, you will pass by climbing spots and see some folks on belay, etc. And there is usually a port a potty by the climbing wall too! This is a great change of pace from the city! Leave your cares behind as you embark on your long walk in the woods.<br /><br />I\'ll be there to meet up with some runner friends and will be running some of the miles but this is a great hike or walk out and back at any speed. At a slow pace you can enjoy the surroundings and history of this old railroad that has been turned into a nice pathway for people. <br /><br />*Extra credit to anyone who can memorize all the names of the many rivers and brooks we will cross on all the footbridges.<br /><br />It\'s a very slight incline going out and that makes a nice slight downgrade coming back! I think it\'s a 3% grade which is not steep at all...imagine a train needing a very slight grade to go up and down. I should be there before 9 and will be warmed up and ready. Dress in layers, bring water to stay hydrated and bring your camera if you want; the trail is beautiful!<br /><br />We will go rain or shine, but if serious rain, there are muddy puddles, so I\'ll update all the yes\'s and maybe\'s by 8:30am day of run if there is extreme weather. We are 99% a rain or shine group!!<br /><br />IMPORTANT: <br />I\'d like to have a co-organizer for this event so that there are always 2 people attending and in case one person is sick or not able to come, that way we always have a \'greeter\' to get the runners started! The destination of choice for the majority who hike the Boulder River trail, the falls veil down the side of scenic Boulder River Canyon for about 140 feet, spraying directly into the river itself, creating one of the most eye-catching waterfalls in the North Cascades. The stream the falls occur along is unnamed, though it flows with significant volume for the majority of the year. Late in the summer, it becomes less impressive, but during the winter and spring, the side-by-side streams of water are quite impressive. <BR><BR>Located within the Boulder River Wilderness, off of the Mountain Loop Highway between Arlington and Darrington. Drive east from Arlington along SR 530 for about 19 miles to French Creek Road # 2010, and proceed to the large parking area at the end of the road, 4 � miles from SR 530. Follow the easy trail for 1 � miles to the falls, and a bench overlooking the scene. We need to be set up and ready for 12,000 runners to come by and get water...and we will be insanley busy at 8am until 8:30am and then be done by about 9:30am 10ish, so I suggest we find a local restaurant near our parking and go there for breakfast/brunch after we do our volunteer work for the runners. It is a neighborhood Christmas light display on Park Road and Ravenna Boulevard near Ravenna Park. The local residents put on quite a display with music and several mechanical decorations in the traffic circle island in the middle of a large cul de sac on NE Park Road. Nearly all of the homes in the area are adorned with Christmas lights and holiday figures. Come prepared to shoot night photography.

This will be a fun afternoon, approximately 3 hours, in a hands on workshop that will help you understand and demystify the use and features of your camera. We will also discuss transferring your images to a computer and cover some common basic editing techniques. We will cover Digital-SLR, Digital Point and Shoot and Prosumer cameras. We can also help with questions about 35mm Film cameras. 
The class instructors are members of the Photography Committee. Additional volunteers will be available to answer questions about your camera. 
You will need to bring your camera with fully charged batteries, memory card, and the owner’s manual.
